BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY

Barangay Salvacion Poblacion is the commercial area of Tinambac with land area of 2.5 hectares, composed of 7 zone, situated a thousand feet above sea level of San Miguel Bay. It is bounded on the North By Barangay San Pascual and west of Barangay La Purisma and Filarca south of San Miguel Bay and 60% of the total land area was owned by Platon’s Family.

The earliest name of this Barangay was San Vicente St. under Tenyente Del Barrio Mrs. Augustia Gatoslao, it was a lushly forested area home to a wide variety of animals and plants.

No extend data would support that what is known as Barangay Salvacion Poblacion has been habitat in ancient times, what is certain is that the people started to inhabit the area when it was made as a commercial site, particularly known as SALVACION POBLACION. Access to the area was by sea. The chief means of livelihood in the Barangay is fishing and where most of the families get subsistence by selling fish and sea products.

Today, Salvacion Poblacion is considered as activity-oriented, one of the huge population barangay and people are by nature industrious, friendly, generous and easy to deal with, and Barangay Salvacion Poblacion is continuously facing the challenge of leading the people towards deeper and stronger faith and promoting devotions that allow conversion to a life of intimate relationship with GOD.
