BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY
Barangay San Jose has no written history, but the elders said that it was established in early 1930 and was formerly known as Tiltilan. It is the 35th Barangay in the Municipality and has a total Land area of 655,7563 hectares. Barangay San Jose is situated towards the town proper and is bordered by the following barangays: San Isidro, Bolaobalite, Olag Pequeño, Tagbon, Maysalay, Grande, Binalay, Sogod, Camagong, and Tierra Nevada.
In the early part of the 1930s, Barangay San Jose had no more than 14 family heads, namely, De Guzman, Alcanzo, San Andres, Infante, Asug, Pacarido, Consulta, Babelonia, Pron, Debil, Broqueza, Sadia, and Cantor. Progress was slow, and the people were dependent on the produce they obtained from small patches of kaingin, and they earned money by selling their stuff.
Currently, Barangay San Jose (Tiltilan) has a population of 740, and there are 172 households distributed in 7 zones, according to the latest census.
VISION
“Isang mapayapa at maunlad na barangay na may pananalig at takot sa DIOS, tumatalima sa batas na umiiral nagtitiwala sa lakas ng pagkakaisa at kumakalinga sa kalikasan, magkaroon ng pantay-pantay na pagkakaisa at kumakalinga sa kalikasan, magkaroon ng pantay-pantay na pagkakataong makamtan ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan sa pamamagitan ng isang mahusay na pamamahala.”
MISSION
“Na magkaroon ng katuparan ang pambarangay na kaunlaran at maiaalay sa pamayanang barangay ang paglilikod lalo’t higit sa mga nangangailangan, sa abot ng kakayahan, nakabatay sa mga batas na pinaiiral. Isang maunlad at matahimik na baranagay na alam ang salot na dulot ng ipinagbabawal na droga at kriminalidad.”
